Skowhegan History House Museum welcomes people to conduct research using our holdings. Our research materials include books, pamphlets, newspapers, ledgers, diaries, letters, yearbooks, photographs, newspaper clippings, maps, atlases, scrapbooks, periodicals, and ephemera.
Walk‑in research is available during open hours; however, making an appointment is strongly encouraged. Staff may not be able to devote extended time to researchers during regular operations. Some of our materials are stored off‑site and accessible only by appointment.
We welcome remote research requests by phone or email. Straightforward inquiries requiring little or no research time (up to 15 minutes) are free. Additional research time is billed at $15.00 per hour. Review our Access, Research, and Publication Policy & Fees here.
To determine whether we hold materials related to your topic, please contact us before visiting, and explore the online collections database. The online collections catalog is a work in progress; we may have relevant information even if it does not yet appear online.
For inquiries, contact us at 207‑474‑6632 or curator@skowheganhistoryhouse.org.
Complete a Research Request Form and email it to curator@skowheganhistoryhouse.org
